Western Birth Chart
A natal chart is a record of where everything stood at the minute you were
born, and this calculator computes that record in full: Sun, Moon, and Rising sign, every planetary
position, and the major aspects between them. The interpretation concentrates on the triad, because that
is where the framework says the most, and it is written in the same critical register as the essays on
this site. Everything runs in your browser, and nothing you enter leaves your device.
Reading your chart
The Sun describes the direction a life organizes
itself around, the Moon describes what it needs when no one is watching, and the Rising sign describes
the surface through which both meet the world. Read the three together before reading any planet alone,
because most of what feels contradictory in a personality is the friction between them, and that
friction is the most informative thing a natal chart contains. The aspects further down sharpen the
picture; they rarely overturn it.

Frequently asked questions
What do I need to calculate my birth chart?
Your birth date, and ideally the exact time and place. Date alone gives you the Sun and the outer planets; time and coordinates unlock the Moon's precise degree, your Rising sign, and the houses. There is an honest "time unknown" mode if you don't have it.
Is my birth data stored anywhere?
No. Every calculation runs in your browser. Your birth data is never transmitted to, or stored on, our servers — closing the tab erases it. The shareable result link encodes your inputs in the URL fragment, which browsers do not send to servers either.
How accurate are the planetary positions?
Positions are computed with Astronomy Engine, an open-source astronomical library accurate to well under a degree for the twentieth and twenty-first centuries — the same order of precision professional chart software uses.
Which house system does this chart use?
Whole Sign houses — the oldest documented system, in which each house corresponds exactly to one sign counted from your Ascendant. It is unambiguous, historically grounded, and does not distort at high latitudes.
What is the difference between my Sun, Moon, and Rising sign?
The Sun describes your core orientation, the Moon your emotional grammar, and the Rising sign the instrument through which both are first read by the world. Most people recognise themselves fully only in the triad, not in the Sun sign alone.
